Study skills

Tests and exams: key points

  • Get organised: start early to avoid cramming and create a study schedule.
  • Regularly review and summarise course material through the semester.
  • Study actively: take notes, highlight, summarise, draw mind maps.
  • Find effective study strategies that work for you: break down complex topics, study with other students, explain concepts to a friend, ask questions.
  • Practise past exams or tests where possible. Simulate exam conditions.
  • Reduce distraction: turn off your phone; limit notifications.
  • Make time to eat well, sleep, exercise and have some fun.
