In the professional world you may be asked to review what other people have written about something such as a product, a problem or a practice. You will need to be able to analyse and evaluate what has been written about it, make recommendations based on your research and your interpretation on what you have read, and identify gaps people may need to investigate. Writing a literature review will help you to build your knowledge, to develop your research and critical thinking skills and to understand how to apply ideas to real-life situations and problems. Furthermore, in graduate study you will be expected to present a literature review to support your argument (thesis) proposal.
