APA 7th edition - Referencing style

APA 7th edition is the current WAI referencing style.

     Place of publication required for references such as books

      Place of publication no longer required

    In-text citations for works with three or more authors shortened after the first full citation 

      In-text citations for works with three or more authors shortened from the first citation

    Surnames and initials of up to seven authors in a reference list entry

      Surnames and initials of up to 20 authors in a reference list entry

    DOIs can be formatted as either doi:10.1108/IJCTHR-08-2015-0087 or 

    http://dx.doi.org/10.1108/IJCTHR-08-2015-0087

      DOIs are consistently formatted as URLs

      (e.g. https://doi.org/10.1108/IJCTHR-08-2015-0087 )

    URLs are preceded by ‘Retrieved from’ in most cases

       URLs are no longer preceded by ‘Retrieved from’ in most cases

     E-books require format, platform and/or access links as part of a citation

      E-books no longer need to include platform (database) or format information

      (e.g. Kindle version, Adobe Digital Editions) as part of a reference.

     They should be treated the same as print books.

 

     Clearer guidelines are provided for contributors that are not authors or editors,

      e.g. for audiovisual material.
