Research and Learning skills: Introduction

Overview

This guide offers a range of helpful resources on how to get started with assignments and improve your research, note-taking and essay writing skills, and more. Simply choose an area of study from the tabs and dropdown menu lists above.

And do remember that LRC staff and Learning Advisors are also there to assist all students with any research or study related queries (see details below).

LRC Staff

The LRC Liaison Librarians provide some support with learning and study advice for all WAI students. We can help you with:

  •   Understanding assessment requirements and course work, eg: Reading lists, Prescribed text books, Reserve room resources...etc.
  •   Some support with English language
  •   Research and referencing skills
  •   Computer skills and online learning
  •   Turnitin

Students can come to the LRC Service Desk and ask for assistance from one of the LRC Liaison Librarians.

Appointments can also be made with the Higher Education Liaison Librarian for one-one support.

Learning Advisors

The Learning Advisors provide a free learning and study advice for all WAI students. For example:

  •   Writing reports, essays or other assessments
  •   Understanding assessment requirements and course work
  •   English language
  •   Research and referencing
  •   Time and study management
  •   Numeracy, finance and budgeting
  •   Studying for tests
  •   Computer skills and online learning

The Learning Advisors are available in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC). Go to room CG09 or ask at the LRC Service Desk.

 Learning Advisors hold drop in sessions at the following times during term time:

·           Monday to Friday       10am to 4pm
